What is it?

The event aims to foster collaborations between students, teachers and societal partners. Participants will learn more about this type of education through good practices and workshops. We will discuss what is needed for a successful cooperation and what challenges you may encounter. In addition, we will look for new collaborations in brainstorming sessions based on the following themes:

  • Citizenship and inclusion
  • Sustainability
  • Youth and education
  • Healthcare and welfare
  • International issues

The details of the programme, including an interesting keynote, will be announced shortly via the event page.

Who is it for?

This event is aimed at academics and students of Utrecht University and organisations from the Utrecht region who are interested in collaborating with the university on social issues. It doesn't matter if you already have experience with these collaborations, the event offers interesting sessions for every level of experience!

Why this event?

The university wants to enable students to contribute to solving complex social issues. Therefore, we encourage students to work together with social partners already during their studies. We call this Community Engaged Learning (CEL), in which mutual learning creates added value for students, teachers and social partners. The ambition is to embed this form of education more firmly in the curriculum in the coming years. This event is organised to give participants tools to get started.

When and where?

The event takes place on Monday 14 November from 9.00 to 15.30 in the Neude public library. James Kennedy's inaugural lecture on Community Engaged Learning will be held in the Academiegebouw from 16.00 onwards.
