Keep developing yourself as a teacher |
As a teacher, you can take advantage of all kinds of development offers in the field of teaching, organised by the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning (CAT). From courses to curricula and workshops to webinars. In September, all teaching will move to Brightspace so we are still organising sessions in July on how to activate your teaching with the new Learning Management System Brightspace and how to approach your teaching in an academic way. A number of workshops are also already planned in the new academic year, on student welfare and working with the new Brightspace LMS. Be sure to check out the complete offer and sign up!

Start or join a Special Interest Group |
The Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning (CAT) facilitates teachers to exchange knowledge and experiences. One way of doing this is by participating in, or starting a new Special Interest Group (SIG). In a SIG, lecturers meet regularly around a shared interest in a defined topic that is close to their heart and relevant to academic teaching. Participation in a SIG is open to all lecturers at UU. In addition, you can also start a SIG yourself. Are you interested in a specific teaching topic? See if there is already a SIG for it or start one!

New application process for Continuing Education |
There is a new application process for Continuing Education. The faculties, Graduate Schools, and Onderwijsadvies & Training have worked together with the Office OvP on this for the past three years. As with bachelor's and master's education, OSIRIS is the core system. |
| |
However, the application, admission, and enrolment process works differently for professionals than it does for students. For this, the OSIRIS Case module is used. Additionally, there is an extra step involved: invoicing. Would you like to know what the application process looks like? Watch the animation video (for university staff) and view the infographic (for professionals). |

Open Mind game challenges to look further |
From now on, the Open Mind game, a creative educational game in the style of “whodunit”, is available in the Apple App and Google Play store. Students play it on their own phones and receive mysterious messages from an unknown sender. By talking to different characters about their traits, values and beliefs, they have to unravel who the sender is. Gradually, players are confronted with their own assumptions and prejudices. The short game is easy to implement in education, for instance as an introductory activity to give students a more open mindset. |
