Dr. M.W. (Mel) Chekol

Mel Chekol is an assistant professor at Utrecht university where he is a member of the Data Intensive Systems group.


He worked in a few places, including the Data and Web Science group at the University of Manneim; and INRIA Nancy Grand Est (Orpailleur team) as a post-doctoral reseacher. He was part of the EXMO (now mOeX) and WAM (now Tyrex) teams at the INRIA Rhône-Alpes. In addition, he briefly worked at FBK (Fondazione Bruno Kessler) as well as at the national institute of informatics (NII) in Tokyo.

 

Mel received his PhD from INRIA Rhône-Alpes and holds a double MSc degree from the Vienna University of technology and Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

 

Mel's research interests include: Knowledge graphs (e.g. reasoning, maintenance, construction), spatio-temporal knowledge graphs, debugging and integration of heterogeneous knowledge bases, knowledge representation and reasoning, knowledge discovery, query analysis and optimization, scalable probabilistic inference, and ontology based neural symbolic reasoning and learning.
