| The OnderwijsFestival took place on Thursday 5 March. In a packed University Hall, over 500 visitors from across the entire UU education community came together to celebrate education. Participants described it as a festive day that provided an opportunity to really get down to work together on educational matters, but also to take a moment to reflect on all the amazing educational initiatives within UU’s educational landscape. Register for the HER Symposium on the Hidden Curriculum |
| Following a successful previous edition, the next Higher Education Research Symposium will explore the hidden curriculum. This refers to the entirety of side effects of the regular educational curriculum. During their studies, students are presented with all manner of lessons through the formal curriculum. At the same time, students also learn various norms, values and behaviours, which make up the hidden curriculum. Join us on Tuesday 14 April 2026 from 12:00 to 17:00! |

Twelve Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) projects awarded |
The Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning (CAT) supports lecturers who wish to investigate their own teaching practice through Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) grants. These grants provide financial support of up to €10,000 for small-scale projects, such as implementing new teaching methods or improving lectures. In 2025, twelve projects were awarded funding. EWUU Education Research call |
| As EWUU Education Research, we offer a fund named “Adaptive expertise development through transdisciplinary education and lifelong learning”. With this funding we aim to stimulate innovative education research and strengthen sustainable collaboration across the four EWUU institutions. The total budget available for this call is €80,000 (which will be evenly distributed across the four alliance institutions). To support multiple projects, proposals in the range of approximately €20,000 are encouraged. The deadline is 3 April. |

This course is intended for programme directors, track or minor coordinators, and course coordinators who wish to put the principles of the Utrecht Education Model into practice. |

Workshop: Making your assessment GenAI resilient |
| How can you make your assessment more resilient to GenAI? In this workshop on 7 April, we will use your assessment materials to identify any vulnerabilities. Following a brief explanation of the impact of GenAI on your programme’s assessment framework and at course level. You will then conduct your own analysis of the learning objectives and assessment tasks for your own course. By the end of the workshop, you will have an idea of how to make your course more GenAI resilient! |

Share your thoughts on the Scarabee furniture |
| In the final phase of the Future Learning Spaces (FLS) experiment in the Van Lier & Eggink Room, a number of new tables and chairs are placed in the space over the next six months, alongside the standard furniture. These are the new Scarabee furniture pieces. The organically shaped, mobile tables are designed to facilitate engaging teaching methods and encourage collaboration and communication. The FLS team is keen to hear how about our students’ and lecturers’ experiences with this furniture. |

| CHARM-EU is offering the short course Innovative Teaching in Inter-Institutional Hybrid Classrooms for professionals eager to strengthen their hybrid teaching practice. Running from 20 April to 29 May 2026, this 1 ECTS course supports teachers and learning designers in developing effective curricula for teaching across institutions. Participants explore pedagogical foundations and technology requirements through a flipped, practice-based approach, gaining hands-on tools to design inclusive, connected learning experiences in international hybrid classrooms. |
