Themes of Comenius programme 2022 announced: sign up for the online walk-in consultations

The Corona crisis has led to a rapid turnaround in higher education towards distance learning. The recent period has accelerated ideas and innovations that had been dormant in many institutions for years, creating opportunities for a more permanent shift towards hybrid education. This shift is opening new doors, but at the same time it is bringing challenges. How can you get students on campus and online to work well together and achieve equivalent learning goals? How can you promote students' personal development and well-being in a hybrid environment? Projects within this theme contribute to an optimal balance between offline and online education, in order to increase the quality of education.

Increasing diversity within higher education requires a more flexible connection with the characteristics and needs of students. This means that educational institutions must be able to vary the approach and set-up of programmes, and the extent to which students can be given control over their own study path from day one. Flexibilisation between and within study programmes, or in courses and test forms can increase this control. This requires good support. How can the autonomy of students be strengthened, so that they can think for themselves about what they need to learn? How can it be ensured that all students can benefit from this? How can students be helped in making (learning to make) choices? Projects within this theme focus on the student's own direction and (co-)responsibility for the organisation of his/her higher education programme.

Higher education institutions face the challenge of training students for a changing society and labour market. Complicated social issues, or "wicked problems", call for transdisciplinary or international cooperation with social partners in order to find innovative solutions. In this way, education can add value to both society and the education of students. How can students in a course work on questions and needs from society in cooperation with other educational programmes, (educational) institutions and social organisations? Projects within this theme contribute to the knowledge, skills and insights needed to prepare students for the society and labour market of the future.
