Educate-it merges with the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning |
UU programme Educate-it has recently been transferred as an organisational unit to the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning (CAT). This means that not only colleagues, but also the services and support Educate-it offers to lecturers are now part of the CAT. To keep communication to lecturers and other interested parties clear, the name Educate-it will be phased out. For lecturers, of course, nothing will change; they can contact the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning for all support and services. |
New teacher development offer |
In 2023-2024, the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning (CAT) will again organise interesting workshops and webinars (W&W). In September, for example, you can attend sessions on activating learning activities and promoting active learning, on digital assessment and on how best to motivate your students. The complete annual development offer is already planned, so be sure to check which workshops you would like to attend during the year and register. |

Register now for the Peer Observation Programme for lecturers |
Teaching is often done individually: what happens in the classroom, stays in the classroom. Would you like to take a look at another teacher's work? Or would you like another teacher to observe you in order to provide feedback? This is possible with the Peer Observation Programme! The programme consists of three meetings and multiple observation sessions, and takes place in block 2 and 3 of academic year 2023-2024. One of the conditions for participation is that the lecturers are teaching when the programme is running. |

Call for proposals: getting started with educational innovation through USO |
In October is the next opportunity to apply for an interfaculty USO project. Lecturers can apply as consortium members. If you already have an idea and would like to be project leader, you can apply as consortium leader with a global idea. Consortium co-leadership is also a possibility. Get inspired by the possibilities and read the interview with Jasper van Winden: “It is a fantastic and valuable experience to set up a project together with colleagues in which you really do your bit together to improve education.” |
Bo van Leeuwen is emerging scholar for ISSOTL |
Bo van Leeuwen, junior lecturer and PhD Candidate at the faculty of Veterinary Medicine, is an emerging scholar for the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL). ISSOTL’s goal is to foster inquiry and disseminate findings about what improves and articulates post-secondary learning and teaching. We recognise the importance of engaging emerging scholars who are interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Bo: ''I was eager to try out evidence informed innovative teaching methods to support my students. Now, I am proud to be a SoTL-advocate at my faculty.'' New learning analytics roadmap |
|
Learning analytics can be described as the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data from students and their environment, in order to understand and optimise education and the environment in which it takes place. But how do you start an LA project? Within UU, an LA team has been assembled to support this and has now also developed a roadmap. This roadmap takes into account student privacy and the development and security of new tools. Do you think you have an idea for an LA project? If so, please contact us at learninganalytics@uu.nl. |

Well-being is not a me problem |
During the last Teaching and Learning Inspiration Days, T@UU council member Marij Swinkels and T@UU project leader Femke van de Glind organised a session about the well-being of UU students and staff. Key to the workshop was disproving the idea of well-being issues being individual issues and rather acknowledging that these issues exist in a bigger context. The inspiration of this session came from the USO project ‘Werken aan je welzijn’, in which staff and students collectively explored well-being issues. Curious about what was discussed during the session? |
