EMS Outreach and Communication Award 2022 for the podcast De Weerman

The podcast De Weerman has won the Outreach and Communication Award from the European Meteorological Society (EMS). The award is presented to projects that explore new ways to communicate the science of meteorology, climatology and related fields and its consequences to the general public.

In the podcast, weatherman and polar researcher Peter Kuipers Munneke talks, together with presenter Fleur Wallenburg, about everything that has to do with weather and climate. They use different themes and visit places in the Netherlands. In the past three years, about thirty episodes of the Podcast have been recorded.

According to the EMS jury, knowledge about climate and communication are the perfect mix to explain complex issues. "The podcast The Weatherman is useful for all layers of society because the listener is informed in an informal way through interviews and different themes."
