Two new Senior Fellows at the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning

As of 1 September 2023, two new Senior Fellows will be appointed by the Executive Board: Dr. Liesbeth Bijlsma (faculty of Science) and Dr. Sebastiaan Steenman (faculty of Law, Economics and Governance). During their Senior Fellowschip, among other things, they work on a faculty and/or university-wide project to further improve education. With her project, Liesbeth wants to implement inquiry-based learning (IBL) in large knowledge-driven curricula to support students in the development of critical thinking skills. Sebastiaan’s project focuses on setting up a Utrecht University Skills Lab to take the REBO Skills Academy to a higher level university-wide.

Learning activities in Future Learning Spaces: the good, the bad and the best practice.

Have you performed or experienced an active learning activity in one of the Future Learning Spaces? Or would you like to know which learning method works well or which ones do not in the Learning Plaza or the Hybrid Active Learning Classroom? Then join the SIG Learning Spaces session on 6 April from 12.00 – 13.30 o’clock. Teachers and students share their experiences about learning activities in the FLS and together we will investigate which interactive and activating learning activities are suitable for the different Learning Spaces.

Symposium 6 April: Student Qualifying Education (StuKO)

How can students who teach gain teaching skills and improve teaching quality? And how do we recognise and value their efforts? These questions are at the heart of the StuKO project. StuKO stands for StudentQualityEducation and is a three-year project that works to train, guide, recognise and value students who provide education in one way or another. During this symposium on Thursday 6 April, the first results of the project will be shared and discussed with experts and experts by experience.

First 65 students finish new European Master’s programme

65 students following the same Master’s programme at the same time, but scattered over and moving between the premises of five different European universities. It might sound peculiar, but this is exactly what CHARM-EU Master’s students do. CHARM-EU stand for Challenge-driven, Accessible, Research-Based and Mobile European University and forms an alliance of nine European institutions. CHARM-EU offers the Master’s programme Global Challenges for Sustainability; the first degree ever accredited, taught and awarded jointly by different European partners. The first 65 students have now graduated from this Master’s programme
