Interview with CDH director Hugo Quené:
Past, present and future of the CDH

In 2020, the Centre for Digital Humanities (CDH) at Utrecht University was officially launched. In this interview, prof. dr. Hugo Quené, Professor of Quantitative Methods of Empirical Research in the Humanities and CDH founding director, reflects on the past four years since its inception, and shares his thoughts on the future. How should digital humanities evolve in the coming years? And what is his vision for the CDH?

Humanities teachers: Seminar 'DH resources in education'

The CDH and Utrecht University Library are organizing a lunch seminar on Digital Humanities (DH) resources in education for humanities teachers on 16 September.

How can you, as an educator, meet the new 'digital literacy' learning objective and trajectory (digitale geletterdheid eindterm en leerlijn)? Which DH resources are already available and free to use in your courses?

Would you like guidance or advice on how to successfully integrate DH methods into your research & funding proposal? Join a personalized consultancy session with DH specialists in computational and quantitative methods.

CFP Data School: Impact Projects

Data School has published a call to action for Impact Projects: support for impact-focused research projects in the humanities with societal partners. You are invited to send your inter- and transdisciplinary project ideas that could fit within one of these two main research pillars: 'Responsible Data Practices & AI' and 'Media Policy and Public Debates'.

At the Faculty of Humanities, Impact Project vouchers are available to encourage Utrecht University researchers to collaborate across disciplines and with relevant societal partners in the professional field. Each voucher has a fixed individual value of €8,000.

Interview Tijmen Baarda from CDH Research Software Lab

Data School: First international DEDA seminar

An interview was published with dr. Tijmen Baarda (CDH Research Software Lab), prof. dr. Leonard Rutgers & Stefan Dingemans. They collaborated on creating an interactive map of Jewish migration in Europe in Roman times.

Utrecht University’s Data School will host its first international DEDA seminar on 25 September 2024. The Data Ethics Decision Aid (DEDA) is a toolkit developed by Data School, facilitating dialogic review and deliberation of value-sensitive design in data and AI projects.

SSHOC-NL Task 3.1 survey for humanities researchers

Utrecht University has updated the knowledge base on 'Responsible use of AI in your teaching' for humanities teachers. You can find the information on Intranet (UU staff login required).

The Social Science and Humanities Open Cloud for the Netherlands project (SSHOC-NL) invites humanities researchers to fill out a survey (5 mins) on which types of data enrichment tools are being used.
