As of 1 September 2026, the Board of the Faculty of Science is looking for a new student assessor. As a student assessor on the Faculty of Science Board, you will represent the faculty’s students on the board.
- Approx. 16 hours per week (paid)
- Please send your cover letter and CV by 24 April at the latest to c.h.j.boumans@uu.nl

Changes in timeslot model |
Two elements of the timeslot model will change per the 2026–2027 academic year:
- On Wednesday afternoon, timeslot A and D will switch places.
- The evening timeslot on Tuesday (17:15–19:00) will now become timeslot C.
- The corresponding exam timeslots will also change.

Important dates for the new academic year 2026–2027 |
- Registration for courses in Period 1 of year 2026–2027 is open from 8 to 26 June
- Late registration: 17 and 18 August
- Courses start on: 7 September

Reuniting crop plants with their lost microbial partners makes them more resistant to diseases |
| PhD candidate Dario Ramirez Villacis collected soil and micro-organisms in the Andes Mountains in Ecuador, the center of origin of wild potato plants. He showed that cultivated potato plants grown in soil with restored microbial communities develop fewer symptoms when infected with potato late blight (Phytophthora infestans). |

More than forty scientists from our faculty participate in Meet the Professor 2026

| What does a professor actually do? During the 11th edition of Meet the Professor, nearly three hundred UU colleagues hopped on their bikes to show primary school students in Utrecht exactly that. This year, more than forty people from our faculty participated, Biologists Jonas Lembrechts and Olivia van der Weiden share their experience. |
