How do subcultures, new media and art relate to creative development in urban society? Put on your shoes and open the door to the urban world beyond your university classroom to explore the constantly evolving dynamics of cities.

#2 (Un-)natural disasters: an environmental history 🌱

This course explores how societies in the past have prepared for and responded to natural disasters. What can we learn from them? Through source material such as paintings, literature and manga, we explore what meaning we ascribe to natural disasters. |

#3 History of the Islamic Middle East 🌍 |
Do you think it's important to learn more about Middle Eastern history? During this exploratory course, you'll listen to voices of scholars, saints, warriors and women. You'll discover how they shaped the world of Islam (600-1700) through a variety of sources: from poetry to architecture to epic stories.
Please note: mostly in Dutch. However, English-speaking students are not discouraged from joining, as the text book and seminar are in English. |
