CCSS Meeting #50: Evolution and a Creative Universe
|

Speaker (online): Peter Allen is Emeritus Professor of Evolutionary Complex Systems at Cranfield University.
Content: Prof. Peter Allen will discuss the steps necessary for us to ‘model’ problems in the real world which will help us make more successful plans and actions.

CCSS Colloquium: Rainfall and wildfires as stochastic intermittent perturbations to plant dynamical systems
|
|
|
Time: 12:00-13:00, Friday 10 June (with lunch)
Speaker (onsite): Mara Baudena is a researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (CNR-ISAC) in Turin.
Content: Dr. Mara Baudena will illustrate how plants respond to drought in drylands, and how wildfires will influence plant communities and their recovery.

CCSS Meeting #51: Complex Economies are Fragile

Speaker (online): Jean-Philippe Bouchaud is President and Research Director of Capital Fund Management.
Content: Prof. Jean-Philippe Bouchaud will discuss his work on the fragility of large complex economies and the impact of small idiosyncratic shocks.

Utrecht Summer School 2022: Introduction to Complex Systems
|
Time: 15-19 August
Content: We combine examples across physics, the life sciences, socio-economic sciences and humanities with an introduction to basic mathematical tools to learn a complex systems way of thinking. The main aim is to show students how complex systems science is applied by Utrecht University researchers to challenging societal problems. Please submit your application before 18 July.
